Day 1 Recap

So we are finally back at the hostel after a very long day. It started out at about 4:00 this morning. We were all meeting at the airport in Milwaukee at 6:00 to board our flight that was supposed to leave at 7:35 am. We actually found out last night that we were flying into Orlando instead of Ft. Lauderdale, and with just 8 of us. We waited in a very long line just to get our boarding passes from a guy who wasn't quite sure of what he was doing. We proceeded to the security line after checking our luggage. Security is pretty tight at the airports right now, and the airport was full of people so you can only imagine what this line was like. We finally boarded the plane but do to extremely cold weather were running a little behind as the planes were being sprayed with de-icer. We arrived in Orlando just a few minutes late. As we got off the plane, we were directed to the wrong baggage claim in a not-so-small airport. When we finally reached the right baggage claim and got our luggage, we headed to the rental car desk. Of course, we had to stick with the theme of the day and waited in another long line. We made the long trip to Florida City in two Dodge Avengers and arrived at the hostel around 8:00 pm. We got a tour of the place and headed out to eat and did our grocery shopping for the next couple of days. It is currently 11:45 pm and we are to be in the Everglades by 9:00 am tomorrow. I will post again soon with more information about our fun-filled adventures yet to come.
